Understanding the Real Range of Electric Dirt Bikes

Electric dirt-bike range depends on the model, riding conditions and how the advertised figure was measured. For the R1 listed by ZoomVolt, the manufacturer’s distance claim has a specific speed condition, so it should not be read as a guaranteed off-road range.

What the R1 range figure means

EUNORAU’s Australian R1 specification lists a 72V 35Ah battery and a range of up to 120 km when travelling below 25 km/h. That is a manufacturer claim, not a measured result for every rider or trail. The previous description of this figure as mixed-use Eco-mode range was not supported by the specification.

Faster riding, repeated acceleration, hills, loose surfaces and carried load can change energy consumption. Plan a reserve and learn the bike’s behaviour on short familiar rides before attempting longer journeys. There is no verified range figure here for aggressive motocross use.

Charging and energy

The manufacturer lists a 72V 10A charger and an approximately four-hour charge time for the R1. Follow the supplied manual and use compatible charging equipment. Confirm the battery and charger supplied with your order.

Nominal battery energy is 72V × 35Ah = 2,520Wh, or 2.52kWh. At an illustrative electricity rate of $0.30/kWh, 2.52kWh costs about $0.76. Actual wall-socket energy and cost are higher when charging losses are included; your electricity tariff also matters. This is an example calculation, not a guaranteed charging bill or a like-for-like petrol cost comparison.

Riding permission is a separate check

The R1 is a high-powered electric dirt bike. Do not assume it is permitted on public roads, shared paths, suburban trails or nature reserves because it is electric or quieter than a petrol motorcycle. Check the rules for the intended location and obtain the landowner’s or trail manager’s permission where required.

Transport Victoria explains the permitted e-bike categories and restrictions on non-compliant powered bikes. Rules elsewhere must be checked with the relevant state or territory authority.

Before buying

Review the manufacturer’s R1 information, ZoomVolt’s R1 listing and warranty terms. Ask ZoomVolt to confirm the actual model, battery, stock and freight for your postcode. Range, charging time and water-resistance ratings do not remove routine inspection, maintenance or access requirements.
